Intern Q&A: How to become confident in your sophmore year

We’re officially back with our first blog post of 2018, so it’s only right to introduce the newest member of our team: Intern, Carla Papetti!

First, we asked her for a quick bio.. the basics:

“My name is Carla and I am a new intern at the Niche Movement. I am from New Jersey and am currently a Sophomore at George Washington University. I am interested in studying marketing and event management, My dad is an entrepreneur and he has inspired me to hopefully establish a business someday. I am also interested in learning more about real estate, and hope to one day combine my marketing, event management, and real estate skills into something of my own. On campus I am in GW Women in Business, and am a sister of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority chapter at GW.  In my free time, I love playing tennis, going to the beach, exploring DC with friends, as well as going to brunch and shopping with my Theta sisters.  I am so happy to be a part of The Niche Movement team, and can’t wait to see what the next few months have in store for us!”

Next, we sat down with Carla for a quick round of Q&A to help you get to know her just a little bit better!

Q: What lifestyle changes have you made lately?

A: Ever since college I have started maintaining a healthier lifestyle, which I love. I frequently go to the gym and exercise and am very conscious of my health. I love eating salads now too, thanks to sweetgreen!

Q: What your biggest fear?

A: I have a huge fear of bugs and heights. I would NEVER go on a roller coaster as I am way too scared of heights!

Q: What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?

A: I have never been to Europe, and have always wanted to go to Italy and Switzerland. I am Italian and one day hope to go to Italy and explore the parts my family is from.

Q: When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with?

A: When people come to me for my help, they are usually my friends, and often want advice on different things in their life. Lately my friends are usually asking for help with drama in different relationships or struggles with school!

Q: How different was your life one year ago?

A: I just wasn’t the same girl I am today. I am a way more confident and independent woman than I was a year ago!

Q: What are some small things that make your day better?

A: I truly think a smile, a “hello”, or a compliment can make anyone's day better. I also love meeting my friends at Peets for five minutes before class, and grabbing a cappuccino.

Q: What shows are binge watching right now?

A: I am obsessed with the Vampire Diaries, and am currently finishing all the seasons on Netflix. Ian Somerhalder plays Damon on the show, and he has always been one of my favorite actors. I can’t wait to see if Elena ends up with Damon or Stefan!

Q: What’s the single best day on the calendar?

A: The single best day on the calendar is Christmas. I love Christmas. I love the snow, the music, the holiday cheer, going to my Uncle Steve’s house and spending time with my family, and (of course) the presents !

Q: What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?

A: I am most looking forward to graduating college, starting my own business, getting married, and having children.

Q: What are you absolutely determined to do?

A: I am determined to become a successful entrepreneur after I graduate college, and grow my own business.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

A: My best friends and family inspire me to be better. No matter the distance between us, my family’s constant support and love is what gets me through the days.

Q: What do you like most about your family?

A: I love how my family is loving, supportive, funny, and crazy all at the same time!

Q: If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

A: If I didn’t have to sleep, I would spend my extra time shopping with friends. Whenever I have free time after class, I enjoy going to Georgetown with my friends to go shopping.

Q: What’s the hardest lesson you’ve learned?

A: The hardest thing I have learned is to be independent and confident in myself. Ever since I started college, I have had to learn how to be independent, live on my own, and this has definitely brought me to be more confident in myself and my actions, no matter what the situation is.
